Collage? Not Sure

Jeannette at Soartful Challenges has challenged us to create a collage using some lovely detailed images she has posted.

and here is my collage:
I THINK it's a collage.  Maybe I should look the word up in the dictionary.
There are a BUNCH of layers on it, if that means anything.
The elements I can identify for you are:
-the gentleman and the flower are by Dezinaworld
-the background is by Cemerony
Everything else was on my hard drive when I woke up in the morning.  LOL
Check out Soartful Challenges-you'll find some amazing artwork over there!

And while we're on this topic, here is my contribution to last week's Soartful Challenge:
Good grief, I completely forgot to post it.
I should really get more sleep.

We have a Winner!

Guys, you know how you go on other people's blogs and they have a giveaway and they use the random number generator (well, some have their cats pick it out, but my cat isn't smart enough for that) and then they post a little do-hickey that proves they used a random number generator, so that you know there is no funny stuff?
Well, you know how I named my blog "Wishin I Knew How To Blog"?
I hate to break this to you, but I STILL don't really know how to blog.  I did use the random number generator (Random.org)
and I put in number 1 and number 9 (because two people posted twice and I took their second posts out of the running) and, well,
for the life of me, I CANNOT figure out how to copy that darn little thing to post it here to prove to you I did it
fair and square.
But I did.
Fair and Square.
And our winner is (drum roll please)
ROSEMARY
of
Whistle, clap, cheer!
Please say along with me:
Yay, Rosemary!
You may now go about your usual business.
Thanks for all your sweet comments and for making this all
Oh-So-Worthwhile.
You're the best. Just sayin.

Take a Word-Home

This week Grannie Annie of The Whimsey Asylum is this week's guest artist at Take A Word and I am Dee-lighted!  I love her work!  She's like, my artist hero!  Truly!
Her creations have a lovely heartfelt story that go with them and it conjures up comfy cozy memories of home and hearth.
But not mine.
When I thought of home, I thought of how I would like to sell my place and move into a smaller home, because I can't keep this place clean-it's way too big for me now.
Thus:
And that's the truth.

A Beautiful Bride

I made something for this week's Art Creations Friday.

Have a funny Sunday!

Double-Distressed 23

I was double-distressed last week.  It was snotty cold.  But it's much better now.  I'm not even single-distressed.
Hey, guess what?  I'm a Ginger Gem again!  Ooo, I'm so happy!
Did you know stressed is dessert spelled backwards?
Of course you did.  I should probably preface my creation with an acknowledgement that Mr. H's Compendium DOES teach us how to make a Double-Distressed BACKGROUND.
I did NOT make a double-distressed background, I made a double-distressed tree.
I don't think he'd mind.  It's not like there are double-distress police or anything.  Or, like, a double-distressed jail.  Hmmm, THAT could be interesting.  Let's see now, the walls would probably be embossed like Gears,  I'm guessing the bars would be alcohol-inked, maybe each inmate could choose his or her colour palette.  The bed would probably be grungeboard.  Are you with me?
No?
OK, here's my contribution:
I don't know what to say about it, except that it's a card.
And now my cards are done.
Some are mailed.
Are you impressed?
I certainly am.
If you want to be SERIOUSLY impressed, take a wander over to Linda Ledbetter's Studio L3.
You'll be amazed.
And impressed.
And inspired.
I promise.

Zip It Up

Challenge #27 at Digital Whisper involves this image.
Can you imagine the possibilities with this?

This is what I concocted.  (Isn't that a great word, "concocted"?)

OK, I am not even going to TRY to explain this one to you.
I know it looks like I'm doing some really bad drugs.
I'm not.
It's just what I ended up with.
My excuse is that I was delirious from the cold...yesterday it was
-41 degrees Celsius which is
-41.8 degrees Farenheit.
Good grief, can you believe that?
Apparently we were the second coldest spot on earth, the North Pole was the first.
Why do they call it a "cold snap"?
What do people think is snappy about this weather?
If you tried to snap an elastic band, it would break.
It's too cold to be eating Rice Kispies (as in snap, crackle, pop)
A little boy sitting behind me in class wouldn't snap my bra strap, he would never be able to reach it underneath all the layers I'm wearing.
(plus I haven't sat in a desk in school for, let's see, oh crap, I can't admit that, ahem, a number of years)
Arrgghhh.
Stupid cold, that's what it is.
Stupid cold.
I just opened the window as it's too hot in here.  It must be warming up.
But I'm not putting my shorts on.

I can't help it.

see more Lolcats and funny pictures
Some of these pics make me laugh out loud.
And it helps me stay warm.

I'm freezing.

The question was asked if my comment about minus 20 is referring to Celsius or Farenheit.  Well, it's Celsius.  I don't speak Farenheit.  Heck, I can hardly SPELL it.
Well, tonight the weather man (after a viewer's warning) announced that it is currently
Minus 33.
So I googled it.
Minus 33 Celsuis is 27.4 degrees below zero.
Somebody kill me.  Please.

Fabric Scan

Digital Whisper has suggested that we create something with either the image of the fabric Kimmie has provided, or with fabric of our own.  (or a scan of same).
I have some Red Hat fabric:

So there you have it.

Happy Birthday Brook!

It's my daughter's boyfriend's birthday today.
Woo Hoo!
Not only that, but his photo was in the newspaper this morning:
Cute, eh?  lol
In his defence (and, I might add, hers), he came to the city to attend a majorly important football game yesterday and he's the ultimate fan.  (if you can't tell that, you need new glasses)
His team (not ours) won, BTW.
Did I mention that yesterday the temperature was in the
minus 20's?
Good grief.
Would YOU sit in the stands in that weather?
Heck, I can barely leave my house without crying.
His mustache is normally not white.
That's frost.
He looks happy though, doesn't he.
(He's much better looking without the face paint and the frosty mustache.
Happy Birthday Brook!

Colour!

I do believe I am one of the first if not THE FIRST chick this week to post my creation on The Order of The Opus Gluei
HAH!  Here are the colours we have been given to play with:
And here is my contribution
Do they match?
We, I think they do.

A big HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my American friends.
We had Thaksgiving quite some time ago in Canada, but that doesn't make me any less grateful
My life is pretty fine. And my friends in blogland play a big part in making it that way.
I am blessed.

Giveaway Reminder!

You have until November 30th to enter my Blogiversary giveaway!

to see what's up and to answer my question!

Random Redhead Challenge

Gingersnap Creations Random Redhead Challenge #79 is
 Stitching.
I had SUCH a good time making this!
If you're wondering where the stiching is, it's holding the larger pieces together.
Blogger willing, you may click on the image to make it bigger.
Hey, I met a young lady who tried to use Glossy Accents to re-attach a button to a shirt.  AND, the other day, I repaired one of my kitchen drawers with it.  I plugged a too-big hole with it and then screwed the screw back in.
I'll let you know if it holds.

Week 22

This week we tried Tim's
Alcohol Ink Splatter
technique.
Isn't it pretty?  You know, if I weren't playing along with Linda Ledbetter's
I would never have tried this.
And I like it.
But of course, you've tried it too.  Right?
Doncha just love Tim's book?
But of course you do.

ACF #96

Isn't this pretty?
and we've been given it by Art Creations Friday to create something wonderful.  To tell you the truth, I just sat and looked at it for awhile, trying to imagine myself there on that beach soaking up the sun.  It is currently minus 24 outside.  that's MINUS 24 BELOW ZERO.  Stupid cold.
It didn't work, BTW.  I'm still cold.

A couple of days ago I visited an historic home that is here in the city, and it's decorated for the holidays.
It was SO pretty!
The background for this ATC is a photo of one of the bedrooms in the home.
I decided to take the young girl off the beach and put her in a bedroom in a home which in the winter, many many years ago, was likely as cold as it is today.
No reason she should be warm, when I'm suffering.
I'm sure you agree.

Your Favorite Era

well, actually MY favorite era.  Were the 60"s an era?  Seems to me they were just my life.  I graduated high school in 1970, which seems SO VERY LONG AGO.  But my LO for this week's challenge at Dezinaworld has to do with my very first boyfriend's graduation.  I thought he was the most handsomest young man in the world and he was my first love.  NOW he's a famous architect on the other side of the country and I can't even remember why we broke up.  How does that work anyway?
Doncha just love the car?  it rained the next day and oh my, that was a soggy mess.  But I will never forget driving down the road honking and yelling as if we owned the world.
And we did, then.

Artful Bag Challenge

is hosting a new challenge, beginning in January.  I am super-duper excited, cus Margaret's Dress-Up 2010 is comiong to a close and and I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms.
It's going to be wonderful, all you have to do is look at Anna's blog and know that.  I hope you check it out, I suspect we're in for a magical year with her!

GC 76

The Colour Challenge this month over at Gingersnap Creations is Pumpkin, Eggplant and Avocado.
Three of my favorite colours, NEVER MIND together!

See those little crystals?  Well, I actually coloured them pumpkin, eggplant and avocado with Tim's inks.
It was just about impossible to get a decent picture of them.
AAAAANNNNNDDDDD....

I call it

ART!

Hah!  Bet you thought I had a fancy name for this.
Nope, just ART.

Now I have to go, I lost over 14,000 photos from my hard drive last night.
:-(
I am SO glad I have Carbonite online backup.  This is not an ad.
Just the truth.
Whew.

Friday Fills #200!

2. _I wish I could just pack up and_ see the world.
3. Thank you for _being my friend_.

Men, men, men, men, men, manly men, men...

You ARE NOT going to believe this!  Well, maybe you will, I don't know what your threshold for weird truth is.  I was blurfing around at my favorite sites today (instead of working, but we'll keep that part to ourselves, shall we?) and the Poobahs at The Order of the Opus Gluei have challenged us to create something along the lines of
MEN!
and next week's word at Take A Word (I know I'm a week ahead, but I'm so excited, I can't help myself) is
MEN!
and Chris at The Artist Trading Card Club has given us the theme of, you guessed it
MEN!
It must be god's will or something.  tee hee

I used elements from Dezinaworld, Fiddlette Designs, Clementine Design, and the handsome gentleman is my dad.  All 11 of him.  lol
You can leave now and go say hi to the Poobahs at The Order of the Opus Gluei.
and maybe check out The Artist Trading Card Club.

and on Monday play along with Take A Word.
(but don't look at this until then, cus it's not legit yet)
Fun, eh?
Now if I only had a man.
Wait, isn't that If I only had a brain?
Whatever.
Is this enough men for you?
Gee, don't be greedy now.

Harvest Moon

The Take a Word challenge today is "Moon".  Immediately the song "Harvest Moon" came to mind and I've been singing it all day.  Well, not actually SINGING it, people would look at me funny.  More like humming it.  Can you hear me? "Shine on, shine on, Harvest Moon, for me and my gal...."
The moon started out as an image of the moon from the Apollo Moon Landing.
It seemed like the most logical place to find the moon.  then I got all nostalgic and remember watching it on TV....the couple is from Graphics Fairy, and the word art is by Jessica Sprague.
All very famous people.  which makes it easy to make art.
Thanks for looking!

Celebration Time!

I'm Two!  No, One!  No Two! Oh geesh.
You know, out there in blog land I see all sorts of folks celebrating their first year anniversary since they began their blog....and I think to myself, "that's really cool.  I wonder when I started?"  and then off I go and do something else.  (Some people say I would benefit from medication.)
Welll, the other day I noticed that EXACTLY ONE YEAR AGO TODAY I began my daily photo project at Shuttercal.  that's where I post a photo every day.  I've now done 365 photos.  Yay.
You are probably wondering what the heck this has to do with anything and furthermore why should you even give a darn, BUT!
Humour me.
AND THEN I decided to find out when I actually started blogging (and the thought stayed with me while I did something with it).
It took me a while.  Note that my blog is called Wishin I knew How To Blog.
Guess what?
On November 29th, it will have been TWO YEARS!!!
is my very first post.

HAH!
Anyhoo,
In honour of this momentous occaision, I am going to have a GIVEAWAY!

And here is the prize:

Do you know what it is?

Work with me here folks!
Come on....

It's a calendar, guys!
I know, that's a really crummy picture.
For 2011. (What, you thought I would give you a 2010 calendar???)
Made by yours truly with my own little hands and some images from Lisa's Altered Art.
And all you have to do to win it is comment on THIS post.
Tell me what is the ONE most important thing on your to-do list for the coming year.

Since Today is my two-year and the 29th is my one-year, we'll run this until November 30th and I will do a random draw for the winner that very day.  If all goes according to plan and the creek don't rise, I'll announce the winner that day.
November 30th.
That's all you have to do.
Could it be any easier?
Geesh, I'm the one who has done all the work here.
Ummm, on second thought, if you're still reading this post, YOU'VE done a fair bit of work.
So you deserve a break.
Go have a coffee.
AFTER you comment.

Come back tomorrow to find out.
(Did I tell you I was at the zoo today?  What's your first clue?  tee hee)

Sewing Notions

This month at Gingersnap Creations the theme is "Haute Couture"  It's ONLY about my mostest favorite theme!  (except maybe Time.)  And the Spicy supply Challenge is titled ""Sewing Notions".  I would lose some serious sleep to participate in this month's challenges, that is FOR SURE.  Foturnately, I haven't had to, as I've had FOUR DAYS OFF IN A ROW!

WOO HOO!

That is major creating time.  I'm as happy as....um...a...someone who had just had four whole days to do whatever she wants to.  Could it be any better?
YES, I'm aware I'm rambling again.
Here you go:

The background is embossed cardstock, the frame is by Crate Paper. Both the dressmaker stand and the sentiment are by Daisy.  The blue fabric is from For Elsie, and I can't find her anywhere, so who knows...
The sewing notions in the top left?  They're sewing notions.  Except for the scissors.  That's a button.

Come play with us!

Mother and Child

June has suggested the theme of  "Mother and Child" this week at Dezinaworld.
I've made an ATC:  Nothing particularly fancy, but I really like it. It's a Googled image of a Japanese woodcut from the 19th century.  The flower is cut from the background paper and the red thing at the top left was stuck on my studio floor.  lol  And I did some sewing.  I love sewing on paper, but the machine is soooo heavy.  whine, whine

June's Favourite Season

June at Soartful Challenges has graciously given us this image to work with this week:
It just so happens that her favourite season is Fall and so is mine.
Here is my attempt to celebrate that:
The background photo is one of mine (Hah!  I know the credit for that one!)

When I went to post this, I learned that in a frenzy of photo-editing last night, I deleted it.  So having just spent quite some time finding it (in the recycle bin, bless it's little hard-drive heart), I shan't say any more.  don't want to jinx it. Whew!
Remember, you can click on the picture to make it larger.

Elizabeth, where are you?

Hey, Elizabeth of Elizabeth Studio, you left me a message, but I can't get hold of you through your profile.
Email me again and we'll sit and have a (virtual) taco together.  You can decide whether you want to be the good girl or the bad girl.
And for the rest of you reading this who aren't Elizabeth,
please pay no attention and go about your daily lives.
Thank you.

Angel

The word this week at Take a Word is "angel"  I've had a hankering to make something with lime green and red lately.  Thus, I give you "Spread Your Wings And Fly":
The paper is from a lovely new line by My Mind's Eye Lost and Found.  The birdcage on the top left is a Glitz stamp. (The other cages are already on the paper.)  She has Maya road wings that I dipped in UTEE.
I stamped and embossed her dress with a Recollections stamp and the butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch.  It's a good thing.  The rest?  Well, it just IS.

You can't NOT make something beautiful with this paper.  You just CAN'T.

Everyone wins!

Got your attention, didn't I?
You won't believe this.  June of Dezinaworld is having a challenge where everyone who enters gets a prize.
Isn't that amazing?  She has fun chalenges each week, but this is like an early Christmas present!  Here is what I've put together.

K, here's the story behind this little creation.  First, we were asked to use one of Dezinaworld's images.  Easy.  I have the coolest Steampunk Collage sheet that I got from her shop.  If you look closely (maybe click on it for help with the old eyes), you'll see that the "frame" is made of gears-THAT is one of hers.  I rubbed it with some metallic paint and embossed it with my cuttlebug and the "dice" folder.
The background paper is Hambly, the hearts, her wings, and the journalling frame are Bisous.  If all of the scrapbook supply stores disappeared tomorrow, and all that was left was Bisous, I'd could manage.  I love their stuff.
I think the puppy is Basic Grey.  I crackled the gentleman's heart, put a little stickles in her hair, crackled the gears on both their hats (also both by Dezinaworld) and added a few other assorted goodies which I can't identify.  Finishing touch? Enamel Accents.

Now.
This started off as a birthday card for my daughter's BF.  I made the two individuals on it with an assortment of Internet images.  The bodies are from some very old gaslamp ads, the feet and legs are from Crowabout Studio B. Their arms are by  Freubel-Art.

The man's face is (who else?) Edgar Allan Poe and the woman's face is from a painting by one of my favourite artists, Franz Xavier Winterhalter .

 Whew!
This post took me longer to do than the card did!
Really.
At any rate, I still don't have a birthday card for my daughter's beau.  Why not?  Cus it's pink.
It can't be pink.  It has to be green, like the colour of his favourite football team.
Green.  Football.  I've got my work cut out for me today.
You've her me speak of it before.
You have until December 4th to link up.
Better get movin!
