Shades of Blue . It's a 5x7 canvas on which I put a butterfly image from the Internet. I changed the original colours in it to blues, then reprinted the lady only in the original colours, then put her over the blue image. They were both attached to the canvas with Golden Gel Medium. Then I covered (around her) the canvas with:
gesso
Distress Pine Needles Crackle Paint
light blue acrylic paint
Distress Broken China Crackle Paint
Vaseline, as per the "Peeled Paint" technique
Grey Acrylic Paint
Some Distress Faded Jeans Crackle Paint
sky blue and periwinkle blue acrylic paint
The bluebirds were punched with a Martha Stewart punch out of some shiny paper I found in a corner of my studio. The quote is from Scrapartist . Up top is some paper by Prima that I punched out with another punch (by someone). Buttons from my button stash and a jewel under her boobies.
(whew, am I done?)
And there you have it. There are lots more Shades of Blue over at Gingersnap Creations so hurry on over there and drool.
Oh, you know what else? My blog-bud Just Jingle is having her very first "Fabulous Friday" party today. That's another place you want to visit. She's fun, fun, and more fun. Way more fun than me. But maybe not as crazy.
So have a Fabulous Friday!!
(PS. I see for some unkown reason the numbers on my list do not line up with the items on my list. Please pretend they do.)

This is lovely, your lady is such a beautiful centerpiece and all the elements work together in such a striking way. You need to do a video tutorial and demonstrate some of the techniques you used, would love to see that!
ReplyDeletebtw, very cool blog design! (I knew Blogger loves you!)
ReplyDeleteWait! My socks...knocked off... because that is freakin' awesome! I was just scrolling through my dashboard updates and the neutrals of the figure in the middle of the butterfly popped out so much that I HAD to click and see what you'd done. Jeez. I am tempted to copycat and make something like that for my entryway. Cool cool cool.
ReplyDeleteElectra this is wow I don't have words, I'm drawn to the colour I love blue and of course you added a faerie...what not to like . thanks for sharing with me. hugs Wendy

ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Electra, did you rock this challenge, or what?? Gorgeous, gorgeous... and more gorgeous. THAT is how you do The Blues. Your designs just keep getting cooler and more clever, which hardly seems possible considering how cool and clever they've always been!

This is really beautiful and in my favorite shades of blue...each year I choose a color that I will be in love with - this year it is blue so I am smitten. Thank you for sharing - Hugs - Julie
ReplyDeleteWow, that image is a great focal point, and all the other work you did just makes it a really fabulous piece! Now, sit down, you deserve a break, and possibly, a Reese's.
ReplyDeleteWOW. This is amazing. I love her. She looks like she is bursting out of the canvas. Those colors are so vibrant. I want to be her. Did I mention that I love her!
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning piece of work. So pleased you have joined in with the Gingersnaps Creations colour challenge.Hope to see you next month.
ReplyDeleteI haz got to get a jewel for under my boobies now ;-)
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was madonna, not The Madonna but madonna, like a virgin singer madonna and then I thought no! it's Bette Davis. Then I clicked on the picture to make it bigger and it is probably neither of them but it sure does resemble Bette, maybe it's her sister!
A beautiful collage and fabulous electric blue for the lovely Electra.
Just looking at it makes me smile!
