A heart-warming story

I do swaps.
  Mainly through Swap-Bot.
And one day I signed up for a "Heart" ATC swap, which involved making four, count em, four heart-themed ATC's for your partner.
I put them in an envelope.
I put them in the truck and did a bunch of errands.

And I stopped at the post office, intending to put a stamp on the envelope
and send it off to my partner.
And the envelope was gone!

I looiked everywhere.

I retraced all of my steps that day.
Long story short, I never did find it.
VERY disappointed.  But hey, life happens, right?
So I made four more and successfully, this time, managed to get them mailed.
But you know what?
My partner emailed me and said she received two envelopes, with all eight ATC's in them!
I couldn't believe it.
Some kind stranger found my envelope of the ground, obviously, went to the post office, bought a stamp (for a fairly large envelope, I may add) and sent it off!
How cool is that?
And if that weren't enough, the recipient and I are now getting to be pretty good friends, swapping back and forth.
There is hope.
Have a funny day.

The Poobahs are 100!!

(Wow, is that ever old, eh?)
Er, ahem,
I think it is the 100th-Challenge of the illustrious Order of the Opus Gluei
Yessirree Bob, it is too so!
And how cool is that?
That's a lot of challenges.
I'm sooooooooo tired...............
Er, ahem, I mean,
The Challenge is to make and stuff fill a matchbox.
I made some matchboxes with the Cricut not too long ago and I almost lost my mind trying to put them together.  My fingers are just too chubby for that diddly-work.
I did manage to pour a drink though, just to help things along.
So I'm sending out a great big THANK YOU to the Matchbox-Fairy for slipping a naked matchbox into my mailbox.
You know who you are, Matchbox-Fairy.
And an even bigger
Thank You!
to Rosemary and Jana for all their creativity and inspiration over the past 100 posts.
I love the Opus Gluei.
GLUESTICKS FOREVER!!
(and dots and runners and liquid glue honey and maple syrup and gum on the sole of your shoe and all the other sticky stuff)
Oh Yeah, here's my matchbox.
(And I do mean "Stuff")
And to whomever is going to get this,
NO PEEKING!
LOOK AWAY NOW!
Allright.
Have a funny day or night or whatever it is where you live.

Grungy Monday Door Tag

I started to make the background for Grungy Monday 06, with no idea what would become of that background.  I make it following the Technique from the 12 Tags of Christmas, 2007, Day 8, as per Linda's instructions.  You can find the deets on the technique at Tim's Holtz' Blog.
Then what to do, what to do with the background I made?
Well, the lovely Jean Callaghan of
All My Art is hosting a Door Tag Challenge.
What a fun idea.
So I used an image of this young girl from
Lisa's Altered Art , added some 7 Gypsies Embellishments and Voila!
We have a Door Tag!
I hope you have enjoyed your visit, have a great weekend!

Darn Blogger

Is anyone else miffed that stoopid blogger has been down?
Wow, are we (am (am I) ever dependent on it, eh?

This one's for Gini

I was telling a friend in the UK one day how much I LOVE the
Daniel Torrente Stampotique stamps.
And how they are not available in Canada.
And how much it would cost to order them from the UK.
Whining and snivelling, basically.
and my friend Gini
SENT ME ONE!!!
Ooo, I was so excited I could hardly breathe.
And I made a bunch of stuff with it.
The same day.
This is one of the stuff.
Isn't she
adorable???
OK, maybe "adorable" isn't the right word.
Special?
Isn't she
special???
Gini, you're the bestest.
Truly.
Even the Prom Queen thinks so.
(She told me)

WOYWWED?

Nothin much to see today, I'm still plugging along on my paper scrapbook pages that have been needing to be done for what seems like CENTURIES!
And yes, if it seems somewhat chaotic, that because that's how it is.  That's how I work.
And it works for me.
If you would like to peek in other people's windows and see their (likely much neater) workdesks, head on over the Julies blog and check out all the other workdesks at
It's so much fun!

Spicy Supply Challenge

I love this invitation from Gingernaps Creations this month for their Spicy Supply Challenge GC #102:
Each month, we challenge you to use some of your supplies that have been languishing in your craft rooms. To compliment our Wild West month, we are asking you to rustle up some
TWINE!

Yessirree cowpokes, y'all need to find that twine languishing (don't you just LOVE that word!?) and come up with sumpin pretty dang special for this challenge.  Or you'll never be able to show yer face in that old saloon you like so much to hang out (languish) in.  And we can't have that, can we?  Where would ya get yer target practice? Plus, Miss Betsy would have to cut back on her whisky order if ya weren't there no more.

This is mine.  I'm not going to be responsible for no bar going out of business.
Now git over there and git busy!!
YEE-HAW!!
The stamp, btw is by Coronado Island.
Isn't it beautiful?
And all the other stuff?  Well, it was languishing in my studio.
Duh.

So I made four last night  and this is the first.
OK, I'll have to agree with you, it's pretty hard to determine WHICH image is the CENTRAL image in this, but you'll have to trust me when I tell you that there are images from not only Dezinaworld, but Cemerony, Deviant Scrap, Cajoline and the Gilded Bee.

Cowgirls and Cowboys

Good grief, I am SO disorganized!  I just posted, saying I am trying to get caught up in my blurfing and I subsequently blurf on over to Gingersnap Creations where I see (and remember at the very same instant) that I am one of the visiting artists this month.  So I halted in my blurf activities to come back here and post my own Western project.
OK, let me 'splain.  The cowgirl is Dale Evans.  I mentioned to a friend that I found a picture of Dale Evans online and she said "who?"  (heavy sigh)  Dale Evans was the wife of Roy Rogers. I grew up on Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.  And if you don't know who Roy Rogers is, I give up.  (and feel VERY old). (another heavy sigh)
BUT, that's not the coolest thing.
On the left is a scan of an old music score.
Charlie Herald and his Round-Up Rangers.
singing, "She'll be Comin' Around The Mountain When She Comes."
ALL TOGETHER NOW!!!
Oops  Sorry  I got carried away.  Focus, Electra

Charlie Herald is (well, WAS) my Mom's cousin and my Mom played honky-tonk piano in the
Round-Up Rangers!
This was when she was 17 years old.  Let's see, that would have been 1933.
I know, I know, she wasn't in the photo, but that's cus it was an "Boys Thing".  They just let her play with them, cus none of them could play the piano.
When they played in the saloons, she had to come in a play the set and then go back and wait outside until the next set.  I guess some things never change.  lol
Can you believe those hats?
I'm almost embarrassed to admit Charlie was kinfolk of mine.
But it gave me a good story for this project, didn't it?
There are some really fun projects at Gingersnap Creations!
I hope you visit and play along!

A Tag (how poetic is this post title?)

I recently completed a tag swap which was based on Tim Holtz Techniques.  Well, maybe "recently" isn't the right word, cus to tell you the truth, I can't remember what the technique was.  (She hangs her head in shame)
However, I am desperately trying to catch up on my blurfing and am feeling like I am so far behind, I will NEVER get caught up, SO what you see is what you get.
One Tim Holtz-ish Techniques-ish Tag-ish.
Have a funny day tomorrow.

It's May!!

and time for a new Artful Bag!
"What's an Artful Bag?" you ask?
Well, go over to Frosted Petunias and find out for yourself.
Frosted Petunias is one of the prettiest blogs I know of, you really need to check it out!
It's made out of REAL frog skin, you know.

Hah!
NOT!
It's just some funky paper I've had in my stash for, oh, maybe, 20 years.
Yes, some would consider me a hoarder.
This funky paper was A PAIN to work with, but I will give myself credit for the fact that this bag is actually three dimensional, has gussets and will hold all my make-up.
Well, maybe not ALL my make-up, I'm no spring chicken.

But I could fit my lipstick in it, and an aspirin or two.  Maybe my house key.
The embellies are from Mikey's.

While I'm at it, in case you didn't know, last month's theme was an Artful Bag ATC and I never got around to posting it.  (BAD Electra)
At any rate, here it is:
You can see more Artful Bag ATC's here
There are some wonderful ATC's there!
The wings are alcohol-inked flashing tape, BTW.  Isn't that cool?
Thanks for stopping by.

Exposed

I REALLY encourage you to go over to Take A Word to see this week's sample-it is STUNNING!!

Friday Foto Collage

Peggy gave us a few choices this week in images to use.  This is the one I picked.
And here is what I did with it:
OK, I admit it, I'm not quite over the royal wedding.
Sigh.

I'm Soartful, You're Soartful.

This lovely lady is Maude Fealy.  Maude was an American actress who during the early twentieth century was one of the leading ladies of the American stage. Her youthful beauty
made her a popular subject for postcards.
Can you find sweet Maude in my piece?
Of course you can. Duh.
Now go say hello to Jeanette at Soartful Challenges

WOYWWED?

I guess this is my bliss. lol
Still scrapbooking.
Visit Julie and take part in her weekly Workdesk Extravaganza!

Wordless Wednesday

funny pictures - I dont see no   "Any" key...

Memories (one, actually)

Yup, that's yours truly.
And I actually have this vague memory of running around outside the kindergarten that day twirling crepe paper ribbons around and having a lovely time.
Yes, I know, you say, "That can't be-you can't remember that far back, why, that's
CENTURIES ago!"
But I do.
So there.

The Crown Jewels

Not the REAL ones.  Duh!
Nope, the royal Poobahs at The Order of the Opus Gluei" have gotten all in the wedding mood and challenged us to do the same.  So I'll bet you think I did something wedding-ish, right?
WRONG.
I've been scrapbooking my trip to our nation's capitol (a year ago, yikes, I am SO behind) and the perfect opportunity presented itself to make something to do with a crown.
Some background for the non-Canadians in the crowd:
The Canadian politicians in our House of Commons (ie, the government) behave VERY badly at times, arguing and hollering and in general acting like buffoons.  I know this to be true because we have a television station which broadcasts this nonsense day-to-day. I can't even watch it.  We're in the midst of an election, in case you didn't know that either.  And these folks, who act like school-age brats in some settings, are now travelling coast-to-coast trying to impress us with how smart and dedicated to our best interests they are.  NOT.
OK, I'm climbing down off my soapbox now.  Here's my LO:

A closer look:
What WOULD the queen say?
"We are not amused." I'd bet.

Fans

The Random Redhead Challenge at Gingersnap Creations is FANS.
I just made a little ATC.
Thanks for stopping by!

GC98-Mists

I made this for the Gingersnap Creations
The background was masked and sprayed with Glimmer Mist, and the fans were sprayed as well, but it's hard to see.
(Hey, if someone could invent a device that would automatically take wonderful pictures of blingy items, there are a lot of us who would be very very happy.)
The kimono is a Stampin' Up stamp, embossed in white and distress-inked in Eggplant, Lipstick and Broken China.
I used a Tim Holtz stamp, also embossed in white on the tag and the fans?  Well, they were cut with a Cricut.
This challenge is open until May 3rd, so you have time to take part.
You know you want to.

Soartful Southern Belle

My mojo seems to have left town.  Perhaps it went to the wedding.  I don't know.  It' ain't here.
This is what I managed to put together after numerous failed starts for Jeanette's challenge this week at Soartful Challenges.
It was a mixed marriage.
